My first Kickstarter campaign was a surprising success, raising four times what I expected and garnering attention from the likes of Dicebreaker, WotC, and dozens of indie creators in the space. I was invited onto podcasts, I got my first official Actual Play experience, and I made a lot of phenomenal friends in the TTRPG space.
And, most importantly, I made my first full solo album successfully, shipping it to hundreds of people and sending it digitally to hundreds more ❤ Thanks, everybody ~
Only Crits ran a Kickstarter campaign to fund the production of their new sharp-edged "Fuck You / Fuck Me" and "Fuck / Yeet" dice. I got to make an intro song and shoot footage of the gorgeous designs, and (naturally) I also got to be one of the first backers!
Overall, the project raised $100,000 in a month and I'm very grateful to have been a part of that success ~
After backing The Bard Chronicles at the highest tier, Explosm reached out to me for help creating a wrap-up video giving an abbreviated version of the story that unfolded in their viewer-led narrative animation series advertising their newest board game, Master Dater. I wrote a full recap of the story the audience had created, and I rapped that over a campy little beat that I created based on the classic Cyanide & Happiness theme song.
And the comments don't lie, it was an overwhelming hit with the fans!
After becoming a lifelong Beastgrip fan while still in college, I had the absolute privilege of being sent their two newest lenses and a whole new upgraded cage for my phone. I got to shoot a full side-by-side comparison of the results and give a detailed analysis of the lenses' potential, and as a filmmaker and photographer by trade, THAT was an extremely cool project to get to work on.
Plus, I got to teach people about anamorphic video format, which is always a good time ~
After our first time working together on the Expletive Dice, Only Crits let me know about their next project: a full set of polygonal dice themed around each of the 12 core classes of Dungeons and Dragons. Each dice design includes tiny decals and unique coloration, all of which needed to be captured in sharp, up-close detail with extreme color accuracy. Fortunately for them, I'm handy with a camera and I did exactly that, capping the whole project with another fun intro song for their pitch video.
One more very successful campaign on the scoreboard!
During the lead-up to the Bard Chronicles Kickstarter launch, I was extremely fortunate (and very grateful) to be interviewed by Dicebreaker on their podcast as well as having an article about the project published on their site.
Really nice bunch of folks over there, really appreciate them signal-boosting me for my first big project ❤
